Why should you put fruit tree on south side of home?

A wall on the northern side of a plant blocks the dangerous northerly winds, I have a cold sensitive pomegranate variety and even when it gets much much colder than it can survive outside in a shed it can survive that. Then you have the fact that a wall on any other side of the plant would provide shade by blocking the sun. When I had a cheapo greenhouse I learned to never block the Southern, Eastern, or Western sides of the green house or that would shade the green house. Shade means less heat and less light.
