Another couple of guys got Capulin Cherry to work (not so cold Hardy though), and I had success with Mirabelle plums, it’s all there and you can read the other theories and suppositions, but it’s possible!
The verdict’s still out on the cold hardiness of Capulin cherry. It leafed out along with the local P. serotina well before the last frost & didn’t show any sign of damage here in Central Florida. And it was an abnormally cold winter this year, the same friend lost a mango & a 30 year old miracle fruit in his unheated greenhouse.
