I’ve been growing fruits for about a decade now. I began growing fruits myself because I wanted tree ripened and organically grown fruits. The flavors and aromas intensify and improve when they are left on the tree for the right amount of time. Unfortunately, grocery store fruit is picked way too early and lack that quality. So that is why I started.
I then discovered how many cultivars there were and how each had its own unique flavor and qualities. I began to compare the different profiles within the same type of fruits: Flavor nuances, size and texture, Early vs Late ripening seasons, disease resistance, plant vigor, and overall quality.
As time went by, I not only experimented with many different cultivars of the same kind of fruit, but I also experimented with many different kinds of fruits in order to find out what I could grow and enjoy in my particular region.
Currently, I grow Honeyberries, Blackberries, Northern Highbush Blueberries, Figs, Asian Persimmons, Peaches, Muscadines, Apples, and fuzzy Kiwi.
I love growing fruits, and I will gladly provide freely what I have learned over the years in hopes that more people will grow their own.
Best regards.
