I plant trees and shrubs to attract, hold, and benefit wildlife with a special emphasis on whitetail deer. I have researched and published some magazine articles on planting for wildlife purposes. My wife and I have planted well over 11,000 trees and shrubs on a property dedicated to habitat improvement. Those plantings include over 1,000 fruit trees and well over 300 grafted fruit trees (thus far). The grafted fruit trees were selected for: disease resistance and drop period in particular. The drop periods range from July through winter in northern Michigan (yes, that is possible). At some point in the near future we should have planted over 100 different cultivars.
