I am a fifteen year old that has a dream to one day open (and own) a plant nursery. I am interested in plant breeding and hope to release varieties that have increased disease resistance, flavor, and ability to grow in less than ideal soils.
I learned how to graft in march of 2025 and has enabled me to grow more varieties for less money.
I still need to make a database for all
My current plants:
Apples , so many that I don’t know all the names. And yes I did order an insane amount more for 2026
Pears, I have maybe 10 pear varieties but am adding 30 ish more varieties for 2026 (Asian and European).
Peaches, 2 redhavens that I planted in 2023. I ran out of money this years (2025) so I ordered rootstock to grow out a year then graft.
Plums, I have wild plums that I planted this year and in 2024 along with rootstock for 2026
Grapes, I planted a few varieties this year and a concord in 2022. I did apply for free Munson grape cutting from Grayson college but I haven’t heard from them.
Pawpaw, wild and two seedlings grown from online that produce big, tasty fruit.
Elaeagantes, two guoumi and many wild autumn olive.
Walnut family, many wild black walnuts some with very large nuts others the size of a dollar coin. A few hickory (shellbark, shagbark, and pignut) scattered about. I ordered butternut, Persian walnut, and pecan seeds to grow in 2026
Chestnut, 3 Chinese planted in 2022 with many hybrid chestnut seeds with American, Asian, and European genetics and a few pure American for 2026.
Hazelnut/filbert, seeds for 2026.
Persimmon, grew some seedlings from wild trees I found somewhere and 10 90 cc seed grown trees for 2026.
Fig, Olympian planted in 2023 but is shaded so it is very short. More ordered for 2026.
Ribes, a few currents, jostaberry, and gooseberry.
Elderberry, a few varieties and blue elderberry seeds from San Francisco for 2026.
Opuntia humifusa, I have been growing this since 2019 and is what inspired my username. I have my original 2019 plants along with 2 others I have acquired since then.
Many other plants but listing them would take too much time.
