Plant grower. Plant lover…can never have enough different varieties! Love experimenting in the garden - the plants continue to teach me.
Married, artist, mostly retired, snuggler of 5 rescued kittehs and one sweet Sheltie girl, friend of two not quite feral gardening companion cats. Mom to two amazing daughters and three ‘light of my life’ grand-babes.
Living in mid-America, gardening in a what I view as an eden-like environment. Everything I plant grows! After spending 40 years in the challenging hill and flatland environments surrounding the Rocky Mountains (which I miss), getting plants to thrive here is comparatively easy. ***Except for the bug pressure (huge bugs), humidity induced powdery mildews and various plant afflictions that come and go each year.
I grow as organically as possible in a 5000 sq ft fenced area. Our local deer herd cruises through our rural property every 7 or so days. The possums, ground hogs, skunks and raccoons gaze longingly at our inaccessible greens. We have a crow family that gathers food treats from a feeding platform dedicated to them. A fox family raises their kits near us each year and there have been big cat sightings on our lane. Country life rocks!
All of our veges, fruit trees and bushes are planted within a 6 ft high garden fence - except for one Santa Rosa plum, which has its own fence protection. My garden is a mix of flowers, herbs, seasonal vegetables and fruiting trees and bushes. Part cottage, part food forest -my place of contentment where everything is grown with love.
“Gardening is life.”
