I live on a large city lot with my three young kids and husband.
Our young trees so far consist of Dolgo Crab, Kuganskaya Quince, Honeycrisp Apple, Bavay’s Gage, Moonglow Pear, Evan’s Cherry tree form, Montmorency Cherry, and Mount Royal Plum. I also grow Juliet bush cherry, grapes, haskaps, ground cherries, and an assortment of veg, melons, herbs and flowers in the garden.
My family were not interested in gardening when I was growing up. The first spark happened for me when I visited Jefferson’s gardens at Monticello when I was around 10 years old. My dad humored me and bought me Cleome and pea seeds at the Monticello store, which I failed at growing. I always remembered that Cleome flower though and when I got my own house it’s one of the first things I tried to grow, with more success. And here I am, still winging it, on my own. Thank goodness for the wisdom of strangers on Growing Fruit and YouTube, to help a girl out.
