I live in Vancouver, WA on 7 acres. Weeds really own most of it but I do have a small orchard and garden area carved out. Planted my first fruit trees and a couple grape varieties here about 27 yrs ago. I knew nothing about what I was doing! Amazingly a few survived. My fav from this 1st planting is the bramley seedling and my fuju persimmon… About 10 yrs ago, I was gifted my first grandchild. My daughter developed a new interest in fruit trees and gardening. So… I bought some trees for my home and a couple as a 1st yr. birthday present for my granddaughter for my daughter’s home. Then a few years later another grandchild…so… couple more apple trees and a grape as a 1st yr birthday present for that precious boy. As my daughter says…“we have become apple snobs”.
My two grandchildren are so very proud of their very own trees. I’ve added a couple of apple and asian pear trees, grape varieties, hard to find strawberries.
I am getting pretty good at grafting apples and pears.
I retired last year so have so much more time now to spend in my little orchard and garden. Looking forward to learning more and being a better keeper of my orchard. I am loving being retired!
