Didn’t they have all that where you were?? Especially sun.
More is simply more!
Everything out there frozen. End of season
Awoke to snow on the ground this morning. It was 60°F yesterday and allegedly 20°F now. It really should not be finding the ground hospitable for this.
Dusting of snow on deck, roofs and cars, but nothing on the ground, it’s still too warm. Temps to remain in the 30s with more light snow expected today.
Don’t think I remember us getting snow this early here.
1993 or 1994, I remember trick-or-treating with our kids in the snow at their grandmother’s in Elizabethtown KY.
I’ve only been here 11 years, raised in Oklahoma and worked in Texas 30 years. So I’m not too familiar with a lot of cold weather.
My wife who is from here has said they’ve had bad winters here. Once it got down to -30 with lots of snow on the ground for a month. I think she said they were off school for several weeks.
Last winter seemed to be so cold for so long, and more snow in the 11 years we’ve been here. I HATE the cold. It’s kind of raw outside today. But I still haven’t started wearing the long johns yet, maybe if it gets down into the teens.
Looking like we might get our first frost tonight. It’s a bit early compared to what we’ve been getting over the last decade or so, but it’s been an unusually cold year for us.
Picked the last of the figs for this year, some raspberries, some of the more exposed mandarins that in less confident will take light frosts unharmed, and most of the remaining passion fruit. I left a few passion fruit on the vines as I’m curious if they can handle a degree or two below freezing and still ripen later on.
I’ve left all the Meyer lemons on the tree, it’s by the house and the thinker peel and larger size should help them resist a bit of freezing. I’d rather they ripen a little while longer on the tree.
Can’t wait for winter to be over already and a new growing season begun. Frost is a melancholy affair.
What a passionfruit haul!
First frost also pontentially tonight. Low of 35, but the weather station is a fair bit south and bay-ward than me. Hopefully it just gets cold and we stay frost-free.
We got a 31F night before last… and 27F this morning…
That did in the figs and raspberries.
Our leaves changed from nice fall colors to mostly brown quickly.
I still have 8-10 persimmons ripening on the counter.

36 F, no frost today baby!
Same. Frost free, low of 36. Tomorrow night isn’t projected to warm up though.
They’re saying mid thirties for us, my guess is it’ll be about two weeks before we get a frost.
Hard freeze here this morning, was 21 when we left for work at 6:30. Also got about half inch of snow yesterday. Good news is no freezing temps for next ten days.
Had to break out the long johns this morning…
Now that the frost has hit, we’re heading into a warmup
