2021 Buds, Flowers and Fruit!

Your Rubinette colored up nicely. Mine did not get that nice coloring.

These are some pretty looking clean apples and I am sure will taste great too.

@Naeem Of the dozens of apples I’ve grown, I think Golden Russet and Rubinette have been the best. Also had some really good unlabeled, probably Freyburg - which has the same parents as Rubinette.

Your Rubinette is just beautiful. I love the color. What is the flavor like?

I haven’t had them in a few years but its a full-flavored Cox’s Orange Pippen offspring with great texture and a balance of high sugar with acid tang.

There’s some interesting info here: Apple - Rubinette - tasting notes, identification, reviews

I have to agree with the statement: “Of all the Cox offspring, Rubinette surely gets closest to having that elusive greatness - and many would argue it is even better than Cox”

I lost the tag of them but this apples are very good…

Thanks for the picture. I grew my first Rubinette this year and it did not turn that red. It was starting to get a little rot on it so I picked it. Yours look real good.

Red Falstaff apple…

Big, beautifull and balanced sweet/acid flavour…

Not much to report but still harvesting .

I was going to say exactly the same thing! Texture can ‘make or break’ a watermelon assessment for me! This one looks like it still has it’s ‘crunch’!

My first raspberry harvest - Anne. Nice apricot flavor, slightly sweet but tart. Also crumbly. I hoping as the plant gets bigger the fruit will also get bigger, firmer and sweeter.

That looks more like Fall Gold which is crumbly. Anne is a pretty big berry.

I thought Fall gold turns more orange when ripe. Mine was pale yellow when ripe. I got the plant from OneGreenWorld.

The spring berries are bigger

Mixing up fall gold and anne seems to be a pretty common problem. I have ordered from several sources and received the wrong product. Anne is bright yellow.

First time eating PA Golden Pawpaw. Last year squirrels or raccoons ate them. This one was very ripe and had a strong bitter after taste.

This PA Golden was not over ripe and still had a bitter after taste but not as strong as very ripe one.

I have found that any overripe pawpaw has bitter after taste that I dislike.

Here is a photo from an old thread that @Girly posted on Anne. Looks similar to me.

Any other sure shot way of knowing?

I’m not saying it is for sure not. Just looks like it.
