Cottonwoods are still on fire and the larches are popping off now. They look just as good against a somber sky or a clear sky!

Pretty much all are reds are gone and most of the orange (2 weeks past peak) but the yellows are still pretty outstanding. Taken today.

Hard to beat sassafras for orange color. Yours seem to also display some red coloration this year.

strange. you’re about 2 weeks behind me despite us being in the same zones. barely any leaves left here.
Got many oaks there? Most of the color we have here now are red/pin oaks and big tooth aspen. Birches are still hanging on too, which is a bit unusual this late in October.

Finally remembered to stop and take some pics. Aspen leaves currently holding/dropping here, I imagine there’s some quaking around too but not right on my property/general area.

no. only oaks are ones planted on people’s lawns. ive been planting red oak acorns i get from people’s yards into a park on the outskirts of town. there’s about 300 seedlings up on that ridge now but still a ways from producing acorns. biggest are about 15-20ft. we have mostly quaking aspen here with a smattering of bigtooth.

Oaks still green here in Kentucky. In a real good year, I love the purple coloring of white oaks. But Scarlet Oak is the best.

I must say after complaining about lack of good fall color down here, this is a good year all things considered.
There is more color this fall than I can remember. Perhaps the hot, dry summer burned through the leaves chlorophyll faster, I don’t know.
Sweet gum, hickory, a few kinds of oak, maples. Some I don’t know as I pass. And of course the most invasive tree down here…the Chinese tallow tree.
I’ve never seen a Bradford pear seedling from the trees that remain around here, but the tallow is everywhere.
Just read tallow makes up a full 24% of the tree species in the Houston area. Now that’s invasive.
While others are talking about single digit temps and snow, way down here we are getting some decent leaf drop on some of the deciduous trees, though not all.
My larger Asia pear has some color… As does the 4 leaves left on my miss-sold mulberry.

That’s quite showy!
My blackberries go straight from green to a brown before falling off. Still mostly green at the moment. We’ve only touched freezing (31°) once on late October.
