These are low cost, $6 to $43.
I had a Fiskers I though a lot of. Dropped it in a stream in December. Replacement cost more but is inferior.
Fiskars are popular and available at Home Depot. I wish he had included them in the test.
Also I didn’t know there was a $6 saw at Harbor Freight. I wouldn’t buy it except maybe for cutting roots.
I have both that Silky and the Corona. The Silky makes by far the finer, smoother cut, but the Corona is much faster. The Silky feels great in the hand and the Corona has a flimsy, plastic feel.
It’s not quite an apples to apples comparison. Fine tooth saws are going to take longer and cut smoother. Depends on what you need.
Either will slide into the tool pocket on my Carhartts.
There’s nothing flimsy about the Corona “Razor Tooth” saws I use. Last I checked they are manufactured in Brazil.
Maybe flimsy was the wrong word choice. The handle just doesn’t feel right. Maybe it’s the hardness of the plastic. It doesn’t have any give in the hand.
I don’t think it’s a bad saw and I use mine quite a bit (in the limited amount of work I do compared to you, I’m sure). It’s just that I don’t really like the feel of it in hand. I also prefer wooden handled shovels and hammers over fiber glass, but that’s just me.
Maybe it’s just that I’m wearing heavy gloves and I don’t notice. I’d rather knick my gloves than my hand – which I’m prone to do.
In the video, I knew that the coated blades would perform very poorly until broken in. They coat the blade after it is sharpened, which effectively rounds off all of the sharp edges you made.
I would love to see these folding saws compared to the Japanese pull saws that are used to prune Bonsai trees.
