I did a few in late spring and early summer last year. I took some photos of one of the summer ones here:
I should add, that one succeeded and grew well last summer, but this spring when it started budding out, the slugs found it and devoured every bud site as soon as it started to swell, and they kept doing that over and over and it appears to have given up trying to grow. Slugs are ruthless when it comes to pawpaws and mulberries trying to bud out in spring.
