I plan to top work this green gage tree going into its 3rd season in ground with bluebyrd plum cutting from cummins this spring. What do you think? Im curious to hear anyone’s opinions, good or bad. Im all ears. Any advice is welcome. I have several projects going on rn and I bought mountain top property in WV so im going to be training fruit trees in wild ways. Its all for wild life there so im going to experiment. I want to breed ac harrow sweet with Seckel as well. Sorry to ramble. Glad to be here. Im in northern Ohio
looks great.
Wildlife do not need pears. They need chestnuts.
Its against my religion to plant chestnuts on my property until they start distributing the seeds with the fireblight resistant genetics, but still true American chestnut, which should only be another year or two from what ive been told. There are a wide variety of trees from oak to hickory on the mountain. The black bears will love the fruit and thats the main reason I do it. Prok persimmons is another.
Wow $300 for 4 seeds and its not even the variety with the inserted wheat gene to prevent fireblight. Id love for the american chestnut to make a comeback, but unfortunately ill have to pass. I may just get a few free chestnut saplings online and let them live for a decade. Thanks though I appreciate it.
