7A and 7B zone garden planning

Hello everyone! :grinning:

I found this website and figured this would be a perfect platform to ask you educated gardeners in the 7B/7A zone of your garden tips, tricks and experience!

I am located in Clarksville, Tennessee (37042 area code)

Last year I did have some decent success with my 4x4 raised bed garden, but anticipate to broaden my variety and quantity/quality of produce. ( i do intend to expand as well)
I had tomatoes (beefsteak and yellow), strawberries, cucumber, okra, chives, basil, oregano, cilantro, green beans, & pumpkin.

My biggest challenge is making sure to not only provide a healthy space for these plants, but companion planting to use my space wisely, and planting at the proper times whether starting inside seedlings or waiting to plant outside.

:blueberries: My goal this year is to do berries (blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries) in addition to the strawberry plants I still have. Tips? Recommendations? I would love to hear it all about this fruit group!

I am open to any knowledge in this zone and what thrives, fails, best plants in the seasons, anything feel free to share!

Welcome to the group, I’m new here myself. I live just south of Knoxville, so fairly close to where you garden. I’ve been growing vegetables for a long time but the only fruit I’ve got experience with is blueberries. I’ve had the best luck with rabbiteye varieties. Southern highbush and northern highbush just never did as well. They’re much pickier than rabbiteye varieties as far as soil, temp, and water.

Good rabbiteye varieties are Premier, Climax, Tifblue, Brightwell, and Powderblue. All these do well for me. Here’s a paper from UT Extension you might find helpful:
