There is a guy who sales the best melons I have ever tasted from his fruit stand. I bought one today that smelled just like a melon hi-chew, and it tasted like bubble gum or circus peanuts, it was very sweet. I think that because the melons are ugly no one else buys them, or maybe they can’t handle that much flavor. It is sad because he has piles of them for only $2.00 a piece and they are so good. When I was eating it I thought that it was one of the best tasting pieces of fruit I have ever eaten and it is just a simple melon! I asked him today what kind of melon they are and he said Israel or Ogen. Has anyone else ever grown these or have a melon they recommend? They are at the top of my list of fruit to grow next year. Here is a picture from the web. Greg

Ogen is a honeydew type melon – and a good one.
My favorite melon are the Crenshaw types. There are cultivars for various climates.
