20 years ago my father had me dig a shallow trench starting under the AC drip coming from the side of our house to a banana patch 15’ away. Funnel under the drip connected to a pvc pipe that went down into the trench then hit a 90° angle all the way to the banana patch, emptying into a 1 gallon bucket that was buried on the sides with holes drilled throughout adding several handfulls of rocks. Leave top uncovered and occasionally clean lawn debris out or cap with something. Cover trench back up and the only thing you notice is a pvc pipe with a funnel on it alongside your house. Spiders will take over the funnel immediately. This is really the only downside.
Never had to water the banana patch.
It was for decoration and the patch never got bigger than 5’×5’
But this works.
Probably could have worded this better and i apologize that i cant make a video of the setup, because i live in another state right now… but i hope this helps someone.

Now all you need to do is regularly pee in trench. We used to top bananas trees early so they fruit sooner and wouldn’t grow so tall

Great thread @Bogovich! Nowadays pulling water out of the air has became common as a source of water to drink also. I used many dehumidifiers in my life and AC and like you seeing the value even as a small child. We were not alone. People didn’t always catch it but in star wars they used a Moisture vaporator https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Moisture_vaporator
