Hello.
Here in Denmark, i sometime see some almost white asian pears. They are of the actual pershaped variety (like Ya Li).
The shops call them “glass pears” og just “Nashi pears” so thats no help.
Does anyon e know what variety it could be?

Is this it?
It looks like it, but they are almost totally white and not yellow.
I wonder if they are just regular Asian pears grown in a bag to exclude light and make them pale.
White pears are not grown in a bag.
Jakob, Look at the pictures in the link I posted. You will see some that are nearly white/cream color.
Like the one on the bottom row second from the right?
Yes, but much more pale.
(what are the other pears in this photo?)
Yes. they look like the picture inthe center. But my Ya li pears are green. And the article in the link confuse me, since it just says there a MANY names for the same pear.
Are there a lot of different Bretschnederi white pears?
It looks like “white pear” is a generic name for white skin pears derived from Bretschneideri. “Duck” pear is a generic name for any pear shaped roughly like a duck with a neck and a fat body. In Chinese, “ya” means duck. So the “white duck” pear is a specific variety which combines white skin with duck shape. The pear you are looking for would be “white ya” or “white duck”. In China, it would be sold as “ya” but would be white skin. I don’t yet know enough about “ya li” to say if it is the same as “white duck”, but from what I see, it is always yellow skin which does not match the white skin of the white duck pear.
I have a Ya Li tree which is 2 years from graft on an older callery rootstock. It may produce fruit next year.
@Lucky_P was my source of scionwood and may be able to talk about fruit.
Does anyone have scionwood for the white Ya Li pear I got at the Asian store? I planted the commonly sold Ya Li thinking it was the same fruit, but it’s green…
Wrap a paper sandwich bag around your pear next year and you may get the whitish ya li.
Otherwise, ya li always looks green. There’s no white ya li.
White Pear is a generic name for Pyrus bretschneideri. Pai Li, Ya Li, Tse Li are all belong to that family.
