Amazing orchard planning website using satellite

Wow, just wow.

Check it out. Can lay out specific fields. Lots of customization features.

Great tool for laying out plantings BUT no way to actually map/track your plantings. Here is the feedback I e-mailed.

  1. Would be awesome if you could specify you want staggered planting. Such as EVEN rows have each tree in line while, ODD rows are offset.

So rows 1, 3, 5 have trees planted 20 feet apart IN row, and rows 2, 4, 6 are also planted 20 feet apart IN row BUT are offset 10 feet from the even rows. This way a tree in Row 1 does not shade a tree in Row 2 because there is a 10 foot offset. This is particularly useful in planting in a North-South orientation where Eastern and Western sun has risk of trees shading each other. When offset in this manner there is 40 feet between the tree in row 1 and the tree in row 3 so they do not shade each other to any great degree.

  1. Would be great if you could add labels to the maps. Eg. Field 1 you want rows labeled A to Z then AA to ZZ then AAA to ZZZ from West to East and then trees labeled 1 to 100 from South to North.

  2. It would be great if you added a Tree Mapping function. Eg. Allow people to ADD known trees/plantings onto the map and add data such as a specific visible label, planting date, rootstock, variety, etc. Then ideally in the report page you could have a list of the trees and the associated data to allow to logging and tracking orchards, found trees, etc. Ideally be able to save all the GPS coordinates for each tree and potentially export to google maps or similar.
