The closest I can get is 36 degrees on the front at an ideal depth of 8’. I was shocked to learn the minimum width is 16’ . It needs to face just slightly SE.
I don’t exactly understand how it did the calculation, but it got pretty close to what I calculated. I’m at 46.2°. The tropics of cancer/Capricorn are at 23.4°. So 90°- 46.2° - 23.4° = 20.4° for the sun height in the sky for winter solstice at noon. That means my glazing should be about 70° (roof peak at 90°) so the sun hits the entire back wall at noon on the darkest day of the year.
The problem is at summer solstice I would have the back half of my greenhouse in complete shade at that angle, so I switched to 60°… and that’s number it gave me.

Another factor is inside color of the greenhouse which needs to be black. Water barrels should be placed inside for temperature regulation. This is a great website Ground Temperatures as a Function of Location, Season, and Depth
