i have 6 different female arctic kiwi and 2 males. my big arbor has 2 mature kiwis. a male and female. the other young male i trained to climb a spruce and do its thing. it did flower this spring. id like to remove the mature male from my large arbor to give the room for another female. its 6 yrs old and id hate to lose that root mass. my question is, is it possible to graft that male into a female?
should be possible. I’m wondering if anyone here has grafted Jenny onto an Anna.
I have a monster Anna that I would love to change over into a jenny (and the option of digging out the Anna (with 1.5 inch diameter stems) isn’t something I would like to do. With those massive roots I’m hoping for a quick return to fruitfulness.
im going take a scion from the best of the 4 cultivars I’ve got and graft next spring. if it doesn’t take, ill still have the young male to pollinate.
If the kiwi are close and it sounds like they are try a bypass graft like you were grafting vegetables. See the melon video! Tomato video is another technique you already use a lot. Think you will have good luck that way.

Years ago i mentioned the technique here
Sometimes you may want to grow the 2 plants side by side and not sever the graft or rootstock from either. Bypass grafting is an old and safe technique.
Think whip and tongue but leave them connected. Imagine the parent plant you take the scion from is still connected. The rootstock top is still connected.
Not compatible. Anna is hardy and Jenny is fuzzy. Wish it were possible.
