If the kiwi are close and it sounds like they are try a bypass graft like you were grafting vegetables. See the melon video! Tomato video is another technique you already use a lot. Think you will have good luck that way.

Sometimes you may want to grow the 2 plants side by side and not sever the graft or rootstock from either. Bypass grafting is an old and safe technique.
Think whip and tongue but leave them connected. Imagine the parent plant you take the scion from is still connected. The rootstock top is still connected.
