Antique grafting tool

It’s definitely a different shape of cut vs the zenport. Is it a LONGER cut or about the same?

It definitely does the job. You have no idea how happy I am that you are using that thing.

It’s much longer, Ryan. It’s supposed to be another 5 or so mm longer but I’ve been messing with it and untwisting everything so it’s perfectly straight now, &, in the process i had to remove 5mm of the piece that fits between the blades as the blades come down to chop. And, I shortened the blades, and I shortened the distance of the anvil on the other side with a corrensponding “V” to the blade(s). I moved a lot of stuff around to where it’s pretty-true.

It’s a son-of-a-gun, Roy. Much appreciated. Dax

I’ve never done anything but bark grafts on oaks.
I’ll be interested to hear how this works for you, on them.

I’ll write about it when I have good information. I’ll unwrap the bud strips mid-July, Lucky.

I would be interested in purchasing one of these grafting tools if anyone has one available. Thanks!

Here is an image of John Weinberger bench grafting grape in 1971 with the same machine I used from 1990 - 2022. It was still going strong. And mounted on a small block of wood as seen above in some images, it worked well for dormant whip grafts of Prunus in the field.
