Anyone have experience with ants eating apple buds? I have a bunch of young apples and only a reinette gris is affected. They’ve been ganging up on certain buds eating them right down. Maybe planted on/near a compound but didn’t notice a swarm when digging. Thinking now is to place an ant trap next to tree. Any better ideas?
People usually use Tanglefoot to deal with ants climbing on trees. Boric acid-sugar mixtures are supposed to wipe out the colonies when they’re a problem.
