Any bad bugs I have caught here?

I put out 3’ long fly sticks under the trees couple of weeks ago. I have caught various insects on the glue. I am not sure they are all bad guys, I can’t tell which from which. Can you?

The only thing bad I see is a mosquito or two. Some of those wasps are good guys, eating bugs or small parasitic wasps to infect bugs, and also sometimes pollinating.

Scott are you saying that wasps, circled in orange color, is a good guy? What about the other fly looking insect circled in blue, I have a lot of these, not sure it’s good or bad

Wasps are mostly good as they eat bad bugs. I often see wasps flying from tip to tip on my peaches looking for OFM. I don’t know what that fly is, it is not an apple maggot though – apple maggots have coloring on their wings to make them look like a spider from far away. So, it doesn’t look like any bad guy I know. I’m no bug expert though, hopefully one of the experts will come through here.

The wasps are good guys. Some of them lay eggs on caterpillars and grubs, and the baby wasps eat the bad guys.

Poor butterfly.

The banded-wing fly circled by IL847 is one of the Picture-Winged Flies, not considered a beneficial insect for the gardener.

The long and narrow Soldier Beetle in your trap is beneficial.
Apparently the pre-printed fly images on the trap are beneficial also!

This is not an effective pest control approach.

Birds can get stuck on these also, just as a caution
