Are you over winter those large pots in a unheated shed?

Yes. I treat them just like my potted figs, which are even more tender. I put them in a detached garage. Thanks to radiated heat from the floor (and despite zero insulation and leaky doors), the inside of the garage stays 15-20 F warmer than the outside air during cold weather. One day I measured -3 ish F outside, +17 F inside. Persimmons and figs survive with no damage, provided I supply occasional water.

It’s key that the garage or shed have a slab floor (or basement) so wind can’t whip away any heat. A shed with a crawl space below won’t work.
