Anyone else love Passiflora (passion fruit) like I do? I may be a little obsessed and have too many

Forgot to answer this.

Did any of them have any root growth? My ones that didn’t survive, most of them still had roots growing, but they either got pulled out of the water, rotted from leaves falling in, or succumbed to the gulf fritillary. At first the root growth looks like little white nubs coming out of the cut.

I had mine in a two liter cut in half (all in the same one), outside on the porch, afternoon sun (concidence more than on purpose), in water over 1 to 2 nodes. I left the highest leaf (or cluster if small leaves) on the vine, and cut the rest off. Was through Aug/Sept/Oct so 70F+ at all times with probably no less then 40% humidity. Then I essentially completely neglected it, on changing the water when it looked like sludge or when one was drying out.

Nothing…

I left mine in my guest bathroom in a soup container of water

I’m wondering if heat is needed.

Like, they didn’t all die, but they were just… there. So i gave up and stuck some in soil. They rooted but i was dumb and forgot i did that… so there’s that…

How often did you change the water out? That can be a problem. Im going to add a small air stone to the water next time I try in water.

Every other day to every 3 days  i made sure the water was good. Might have just been too cold

May have been. There needs to be some warmth for the roots to grow

Just leaving Fiji now, but while I was there I tried various passionfruit they have. Some were quite sweet, but I found a unique tasting one as well. It is a little tangy, but it tastes just like chardonnay wine grapes.

Is this a spent passionflower? Its underneath my vines, so I’m not sure what else it could be, but I never saw any flowers. Theres like 3 or 4 of them.

That’s an earthstar, a type of fungus.

Transplanting volunteer passiflora edulis (probably). These are from seeds from a fruit I got a farmers market. They have glossy leaves like my yellow passionfruit. They popped up in my tomato raised bed and need to be moved into the greenhouse before the real cold comes.

I ordered an incense from logees in 2023 and their standard maypop. The incense died. I’m in 7a. Maybe this affected multiple nurseries?

If I’m correct P. ā€˜Incense’ is hardy to zone 7b in ideal conditions.

If true, logees is wrong (says 6!) https://www.logees.com/passion-flower-incense-passiflora-hybrid-1971.html

I believe you more than them since mine died

Giant Grandilla (passiflora quadrangularis) from seed. Its about ready to get in the ground with its own trellis. Just waiting for the weather to warm up.

How long did it take for your seedling to grow that large? Looks very nicel

Around 9 months. The seeds took a couple months to sprout, but its grown pretty steadily since then.
