Does anyone have extra seeds from interesting fruit trees they’d be willing to part with?
I’m starting an experiment with growing trees from seeds. I’ve started collecting seeds from apples bought at the grocery store, so my seeds are from varieties like Fuji, Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, Envy, Jazz, Gala, and Pink Lady.
If anyone has extra seeds from some of the new good tasting disease-resistant varieties such as Pixie Crunch, Goldrush, Sundance, Liberty, William’s Pride, etc. I would be quite interested in those. The same goes for older, robust types such as Arkansas Black, Aunt Rachel, Limbertwigs, Horse, etc. just to name some off the top of my head.
Also of interest are seeds from other fruit likely to grow in zone 7a, such as stone fruit (apricots, peaches, cherries, pluots, apriums, etc.), pears, etc.
Speaking of stone fruit, the U. Sask. cherries are trademarked but not patented in the US. This means they can be legally propagated for non-commercial purposes. (Actually, if I understand trademark law correctly, they can be sold but just not under the trademarked name.) I’ve read that roots removed from these plants will often send up shoots and grow into plants. While I have a Carmine Jewel right now, I’d be delighted to have a Crimson Passion, Romeo, and / or Juliet.
