Hi everyone,
I’m new to apple growing and think I want to try growing a Stayman winesap apple tree (I have pretty bad clay soil which I’m hoping it can handle, and tons of crabapple trees for pollination). However, there are so many different strains and nurseries to choose from! Does anyone have recommendations? I’d also be open to traditional winesaps. Thank you 
It is my favorite apple. I bought a winesap stayman from Arbor Day 5yrs ago. I’m not sure the rootstock but it just bloomed this year. It was prob 3-4ft initially. I feel like it took too long. If I was buying another I’d probably buy from
I’ve bought some other trees from them and they have been good. Their ciders are good too. Looks like they are sold out for the season but this would be my humble suggestion.
