Can anyone tell me what these insects are? Just discovered that several of my pluot trees are covered with them. And will permethrin 38% take care of them? After looking closer it looks like some of this is larvae.
The yellow things are aphids. The dark critter looks like a ladybug larvae. Your insecticide should do the job. Ladybugs seldom get the job done IME.

I agree with fruitnut. I think lady bugs have good intentions but they never seem to make much of a dent in my orchard. I’ve set there and watched lady bugs walk right over aphids and not even blink an eye.

I just gave all the trees a bath in permethrin.
