Last summer… I summer pruned a few of my apple trees including the novamac in the pics below.
The hope was to produce fruit buds or spurs.
That pic is of branch tip… regular growth tip bud.
This pic is of some little spurs that developed last summer after summer pruning.
They look a little different… with the buds on the short spurs having multiple little bud parts and being darker color.
Probably just wishful thinking… but do any of you know if the buds on a fruiting spur look different like this… compared to a normal tip bud. ?
Is it possibe to id fruit spurs by the look of the bud ?
