Tree is growing near old farmstead, but looks to be planted in the last century, perhaps 25-40 yr old. Ripening now, distinctive appearance with russetting, red striping over green. One sample is quite lopsided. Flesh yellowish, subacid flavor, breaking firm texture. I think it is an heirloom of some sort, any ideas?
Smokehouse?
Not Smokehouse, I have that one and it is not a match.
The light russetting of the skin is pretty unique, gives it an antique look.
These are not dense apples, nor especially juicy.
