Apple Tree Leaves darkening, hardening, and distorted

Hello,

I have 3 young apple trees in my yard of different varieties, wolf river, golden crisp, and Cortland who all have about 50% of their leaves looking darker, distorted, and hardened. I live in Wisconsin, these Apple trees have been in the ground for the past 3 years and just got done flowering. We have had some rain the past 2 weeks, I have not watered them, I think the rain has been enough.

Wondering what the issue is?

Hmm, that doesn’t look like a disease so you are left with weather, bugs, and soil. I have never seen anything like that so I don’t even have a good guess which of the three it could be. Heat can curl leaves, and aphids also can. From the color of the leaves the nutrients look OK but hard to be sure. So make sure to check for aphids and other than that if it still is doing it a month from now on the newer leaves I would get a soil test to see if something is wonky.
