Apples 2025

Cream soda? Is it super, super sweet? What’s the texture like?

It is sweet, but certainly not the sweetest of apples. The initial bite tastes of cream soda, a rich flavor, that then leads to somewhat of a honeycrisp taste. Very juicy and cruncy. Even smells a bit like cream soda. I didn’t believe it until I tried it.

Any idea what this apple is? came in a box of orleans’ rienette from scott’s farm. but it looks quite different and tastes VERY different. hard to describe the favor for me…only really had grocery store apples. sort stars mild and fruity, evolves into a declicious tart what i think is “acid drop”

I mean its pooissible its just a more russeted oreleans reinette, but the flavor feels QUITE different from the other one i tried which was sort of just a mild appley flavor with maybe a slight cola taste on the back note.

Looks sort of like Hooples Antique. But lots of russets look that way.

i dont think they grow this Heirloom Apples | Experience Heritage Apples Today — Scott Farm Orchard this is the list of what they grow. i got it october 23 if that helps for when it was picked. probalby mid october ripening.

Bud mutation?

Maybe you said it already and I missed it, but where did you source the Creamsota?

if it is its insanely good and should be explored more

Ocheda Orchard in Worthington MN. It is one of their seedling apples. They have several other unique apples as well, such as ace of hearts.

My Orleans Reinette have a lot of russet and intense sweet-tart flavor.

Any ideas what this one might be? Supposed to be esposus Spitzenburg. Could it be? The 4 or 5 I had this year were all this same color with the bumpy rough skin.

Looks like Ashmeads a little bit from some online reseach but Ashmeads seem to be a little flatter.

Maybe theother one sucked then lol. Great apple if so. Reallt enjoyed it. I got another lb snd a half of them so ill see what the rest taste like. Agree sweet tart. Surprised if they taste like this theyre somrtimes listed as no good for fresh eating. The ones ive had that are fully russeted have that taste but mos tonly have a little russeting over the top

Nice looking fruit JRD I have this grafted, but no fruits this year,I need to locate my graft to be sure it survived probably just needs more time to develop fruit buds.
All of my other varieties had bumper crops this year.

That looks like a Knobbed Russet apple.

Looks like a Zabergau Reinette to me. They are somewhat flattened rounds and evenly russeted.

Yep, that’s what I was going to say! I have only seen, never tried a nobby. Have you tried one?

No, I have never tried one. They look interesting to at least taste.
I had thought about putting putting one next to the entrance to my driveway to scare people off from sneaking in to pick my apples off my trees, I had that issue two years in a row.
I thought if they saw how ugly and diseased looking those apples were next to the entrance to my driveway they would not want to come into my yard to get any other trees apples.
My Reinette Zabergau apples do not look anything like that apple. That apple looks like it has warts not russet. Even though the Knobbed Russet is a russet apple. Looks like the perfect apple to have at Halloween time.

I like your idea of scaring off apple pickers. Seems like Surround might do that, too!
I replied to two different apple ID requests- Zab for the evenly russeted flattened round, and Nobbed Russet for the warty one.

Two excellent choices. My Zab’s are really good. For the most part they are really big apples.
