I bought 4 heirloom trees over two years ago. Due to weather or my poor care I only had one survive. It actually looks like it might turn into a tree. It is a Reverend Morgan. I am in zone 8B does anyone know about a Reverend Morgan? Is it a good eating apple ?

Like I said grafting them is not an issue. Getting those grafts to produce fruit successfully was the issue I had.

Oh then i still dont know… But thats Good to know. I Will cut a scion from it and graft on pear tree.

Back in 1995, I planted a dwarf bare root Winter Banana in NE NC purchased from a mail order catalog. The following year it bloomed. Caliper may have been 7/16 of an inch and it had no branches. A nice apple set the following year, ripened, and promptly died perhaps due to water stress. I didn’t have any mulch around the tree. I was impressed by the perfectly formed and sizable apple growing on the stick. It still did not have any branches when it died after the apple was consumed.

The habits of apple varieties is nuts. I do everything to make Pionior to grow up. Nope. Not having it. It wants to grow sideways. Annie Elizabeth. A Sky stick with leaves. Pink Lady and Winter Banana. 2 promiscuous hussies that want to fruit whenever, however.

I got a Bartlett and an Asian pear to fruit on an apple tree. The problem is getting a quality fruit.

I got an apple graft on a Euro to fruit but the fruit did not grow to full size apples. They grew for a while and stopped growing. It was like that for two years in a row. I decided it was not worth it and removed the graft.
The other apple grafted on my Korean Giant grew very well. It did not fruit yet when I removed the graft. If people have time and energy, they could do long-term experiment on apples to pears and vise versa.

this one is big enough to carry ONE apple and it had 6! the only other tree I’ve got like this is trailman which was loaded last year and this year and it’s now 3 years old.
that tree is also bent to the side like it’s bowing. really strange

Very tasty too. If a bit delicate. Had a friend who would share them. But they were usually bruised up on the trip down from the Carolinas.

I found a ripe Pristine apple on a graft added to my Novamac B9 Espellar.. yesterday.
It had a very nice flavor. Wish I had more.

gravenstein with a few June drops. trailman, winter banana, wickson, braeburn and Granny are all holding a few each. Chestnut, multi graft “Johnny”, ark Black, and Gideon/swaarz grafts are empty as well.
i hope to get a good number next year as most of these will be hitting the 5 year mark.

Pristine grown on tall spindle system. They are in their second leaf for me.
I had one last year off of these trees and it was tasty. Much better than my Lodi.
They should be ready in a few weeks.

When ripened, WP usually tutrns all red.
When you lift apples in a slight angle, ripe ones will come off easily.

While most of my blossoms got frosted, looks like I might get to try a few that are new to me. Perry Russet, Lindsay Russet, Windham Russet, Goldrush, and Benoni all have one or two apples. Waltana is producing for the second year in a row, which pleases me since I have a number of Skillcult apples with Etter lineage. Can anyone identify the disease on the Perry Russet?
