Apricot nectar

We have harvested a total of one apricot in about 15 years. One goal we had in planting the apricot trees (we currently have two) was to use the juice of the fruits in a recipe that my wife makes once or twice a year: West African Stew. That has made me notice that none of the local grocery stores or super markets have carried bottles or cans of apricot nectar in a couple of years now. When a cashier asks “Did you find everything you were looking for?”, I helpfully complain about the lack of apricot nectar. They might have passion fruit nectar and mango nectar and even more exotic juices, so why no longer a more ordinary nectar?

Question for you all: Is this a local phenomenon, or have any of you also found it difficult to find apricot nectar?

Try you local asian grocery, if you have one. SE asia cuisines often use fruit syrups, usually plum. In Japan it’s called Ume. In South Korea it’s Cheong. May not be a perfect substitute, but it might work.
