Apriums from Sam's Club

I just bought these from Sam’s and we have torn through them. These apriums are incredible, the skin has a nice slight tart plum taste and the fruit is so sweet and delicious! They come from Family Tree Farms in CA. I believe they are the “Rose” variety of Apriums that they list on their website which seems like a generic name of course. Would anyone know what kind of tree these are from?? I’d love to grow them. Thanks! I’ll attach a picture of the pit in the next comment, it looks like I can’t attach more pictures.

Here are the pictures of the pit, it’s quite small.

I had the same thought about 6 years ago. I wasn’t able to find the tree, so I grew one from one of the pits. This is the second year of a decent crop. It isn’t quite the same as the rose, closer to their midnight rose. Still very good

This is amazing! I’m going to save some pits and try to give it a go on growing one. We’ll see what happens in a few years lol.

I could be mistaken, but I don’t think they breed any of their own. Most of them were Zaiger releases when I looked at their website.

I was wondering what the “Cherry Plum” variety they sell actually is? I usually slice my plums and pop the flesh off the pit as intact as possible, so I guess I get a better ratio of skin/flesh, and don’t really dislike the tart skin on Japanese plums to start with, but several of my family members can’t stand any tartness. So varieties with neutral skin are appealing to me.
