do you think juliet has a good depth of flavor? Or ami better off doing some of each carmine jewel + juliet to get better flavor
they both have depth of flavor and are quite sweet , if it wasnt for the high acidity. why they are so good in recipies. it mellows out the acidity some. juliet is slightly sweeter than the others i grow but the flavors are very similar otherwise. juliet is a bigger cherry also.
any experience with wowza? I think its also called big red. or cutie pie (whichi cant tell for sure is the same type of bush cherry)
I have cutie pie, I planted it in fall of last year so I got 3 cherries from it this spring. The 1 nice cherry of the 3 was really good when I heated it up with sugar. I was honestly shocked I got cherries off of it. I should get a lot more this spring. I don’t remember too much about the straight off the bush taste.
I’m fairly certain it isn’t big red/wowza.
No cutie pie isnt wowza. I just meant i wasnt sure if cutie pie was a different species.i see different cites calling it different things
Ohhh. I’m not sure, I think it’s a regular one but extremely dwarfing. Mine already has 1 sucker coming up from it.
Sweet Thing is a cross of 2 different varieties I think if I remember correctly.
Here’s my little summary about my cutie pie cherries I got.
I grow Wowza and Juliet. Juliet is better. More productive too. Wowza sets about half the fruit Juliet does. Cherries are bigger. I’m keeping both as I have a nice size wowza tree and it produces enough and stays healthy. I don’t have issues except for blossom blight which responds well to fungicide treatment.
Wowza
Here in the PNWet, it is rainy pretty much all spring, from February to June. Many people grow Montmorency because it can endure the mild wet conditions.
