Can anyone ID this asian pear? My coworker has it at their house, there when they moved in. Ripe now in zone 6b Pennsylvania.
My best guess is either Ichiban Nashi or Kosui, neither of which I currently grow. I can tell you
that it isn’t chojuro, shinseiki, or hosui which I do grow.
Is it nijiseiki? I’m in 6A WV and I’ve been wondering when Asians should ripen here. Last night had 2 of my only 3 eaten by deer. The one remaining is quite small but the tree is young so maybe it’s ripe. How can I tell?
Not nijiseiki aka 20th Century. The pic looks like russetted pears. 20th Century has pale yellow thin skin.
I used to have Shinko. My Shinko were small, round, russetted pear.
All good guesses, thanks! Looking at the ACN ripening chart it could also be Shinsui.
Unless your photo is not showing the true colors of your pears it can’t be shinsui, Shinsui is
suppose to be Orange-yellow-brown and yours is yellow.
It’s pretty brown, but looking at the pictures you linked to it looks more like the Ichiban Nashi.
