Hi everyone,
I planted this Shinsui Pear last year and it has been doing awesome this spring. It has put on almost two feet of growth and looks great! I did however notice a few leaves last night have turned or are turning this dark purple shade. The coloration is not raised and I do not see any insects or mites…
Any ideas? The tree still appears healthy and is growing vigorously. I’ve never seen anything like this in my trees. It almost looks like the purpling you would see in tomatoes during cold weather. We have had some cool nights in the forties this past few weeks.
EDIT-- I just remembered I sprayed a mixture of Sevin and Immunox last week at full rate according to the label. Perhaps I burned the leaves with this? It was sprayed on a cool evening near dusk if that helps…
I also have a Honey Crisp apple tree that one branch has some leaf troubles too. The leaves are all cupping and the branch appears stunted. Any ideas for this one as well? The top branch with fruit is actually Liberty if it appeared odd to anyone.
