This Asian Persimmon tree is about 15 years old. It was sold to me as Jiro but it is not. Maybe Haichia? It had fruit for several years until 2014 and a late cold snap took out all the leaves and buds. No fruit in 2014. This year 2015 no fruit on this tree but Fuyu had fruit as did another tree grafted from the fruitless tree. Maybe it is in a cold spot? But so is the Fuyu. They are 15 feet apart, side by side. Any suggestions? Is the Haichia? an earlier flower and thus more subject to early cold snap? Any other ideas?
If it was a Hachiya then it should be a large astringent fruit with a heart-shaped. After cold damaged it may takes 2 to 3 years for them to fruit again. My Ichi got a major died back two years ago from a very harsh winter and it is now in a vegetative growing mode without producing any fruit. Hopefully, next year.
