Back in the Garden and on the Forum After a Few Years Away

I haven’t been active on this forum—or in my orchard—for the past few years due to family commitments. But I’m back now and just wanted to say hi .

With my son heading off to college this fall (accepted to most of the top schools—yay! :upside_down_face:), I’m hoping to spend more time in the garden and here on the forum.

I made so many amazing friends :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:    in this space who helped me tremendously with my orchard, and I’m really looking forward to reconnecting with many of you.

Posting my 2025 fruit report below — will keep updating as the season progresses:

  • Gold Nugget Mandarin – Outstanding. Best citrus in my orchard. Harvested in March. Didn’t measure brix.
  • Snack Time / Rapunzel – 25–30 brix, harvested around Father’s Day. A crowd favorite.
  • Orla Cot1 (one of Anya’s seedlings grown from seed) – 30+ brix, outstanding flavor. Harvested around July 4th. Sampled just 2 fruits.
  • Splash – Surprisingly good this year! 27–30 brix even when not fully ripe (had to pick early to beat the squirrels). I wasn’t a fan in previous years, but this batch changed my mind.
  • Flavor Supreme – 22–25 brix. Very good, though not my top pick.

Very exciting news on Orla, was wondering when those genetics would start coming around to home growers!
