Agree that stood out to me. I put a dry paper towel in there axtually for figs because they can get moist

If i was to wash scions in peroxide and put them directly into a ziplock bag with a dry paper towel would this do any harm to the scions. I had very good luck with plum scions last year but didn’t have any cherry take. I had to keep the cherry scions longer so i thought that maybe they were contaminated even though they looked ok. It was my first try at grafting plum and cherry so it probably was just me.
I double bag scionwood and keep it in a cold room. I put water beads in the outside bag. I use no more than six. The purple ones work best I think. I have used damp newsprint without a problem. Damp paper towel will mold. There is something about newsprint that retards spoilage. Perhaps it is the soy-based ink.

Now I wonder what it is about news print paper that makes it retard mold growth. Aside from the ink it could be the state of the lignin that are in the paper.

Read this today. Was thinking about getting this to cut to size and seal with my vacuum sealer (I understand I shouldn’t vacuum everything out first). Seems like maybe a better deal and more reliable than the ziploc bags. Anyone know why this might be a bad idea? I gently remove most of the air from freezer storage bags and seal them as they are designed. Not all the air I can but enough to keep storage compact..
