Bay Nuts (Umbellularia californica)

I’ve got a large Umbellularia californica in my back yard, and would be happy to share seeds in the fall if this is still an interest of yours. I tried roasting them both of the last two years and while it wasn’t terrible it just wasn’t good enough for me to justify the labor involved. This year I decided to try something different and I’m pickling the flower buds a la capers:
