Hello im new here and going to try and grow fruit in my backyard on Kodiak Island Alaska. Would love some suggestions on apples, pears, plums, anything really that would do good in my area where the summers are short and not very warm but the winters are not very cold. Average winter temps are 20s and 30s rarely goes into teens. But summers are lots of rain and 50s and 60s. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

some good information on growing plums in AK.
Any disease resistant apple would work like williams pride, pristine and black oxford. pears like the harrow series. and sour cherries like the romance series from Canada. dont count out bush and cane fruit to give you quick berries while you’re waiting for your trees to mature. id grow the more cold hardy types because of your cool summers. the ones for typical z7 might not sweeten up properly in that cool of a summer. blueberries, honeyberries and currants are all options. you should 1st chose for disease resistance because of your wet weather. fungal disease will be a issue. welcome and good luck!
