Best way to propagate these fig cuttings? Help please. Pic!

My neighbor just gave me these two cuttings. One is about 8" long, and the other 6" long, and both about 1/4" in dia. They might be too small, but I would really like to get them going if possible. What is the best way? Am considering just putting them in some potting mix. Should I remove the leaves? Thanks, Ed

You can remove all the big leaves and leave the tip be. Pot them up and cover it with a clear plastic trash bag for humidity and place the pot in a shaded area. Hopefully, it will take off in a month or so.

Rooting compound helps a lot. Lowes and Home Depot carry it.

Do what Tony suggested, don’t over think it! Those root super easily for me when fresh off the tree.

Another thumbs up for Tony’s advice. The reason why the leaves are removed is to limit the amount of moisture the cutting will lose while it produces roots. The cutting will lose a lot of water through the leaves, thus they are removed and a clear plastic trash bag (some people use 1 L soda jugs cut to fit) placed over it.
Best of luck!

Thanks all for the advice, will be doing it today. I have rooting hormone, but will probably not use it for these, since they are supposed to be fairly easy to root.

edit: Here’s the result. Used separate pots, and a little root hormone on the smaller one. Nothing to do but wait.
