Thoughts on if this is bird damage? The is a pristine apple. They are getting hit but not nearly as hard as the Freedom which are more red. I’m leaning towards bird damage. We have no squirrel on our property but there are possum raccoons and mice. I’m minimal spray so they are never perfect.
Agree. I have cover any tree I care about to stop birds

Looks like bird pecks to me, the pattern of shallow surface punctures on otherwise clean fruit is pretty typical. The red ones going first tracks too, birds tend to go for colour. A few strands of reflective tape through the tree slows them down, though nothing fully stops them once they know the fruit is there.

Those are bird pecks. I have woodpeckers and sap suckers that go to town on some trees. Plus some other species.
I had a honeycrisp that I picked all the bird pecked fruits off a week ago. Last night it had about 15 new pecked fruits on it. Some are almost hollowed out. They seem to be picking on this tree for some reason.
I tried to net it off and the net was too small but I left it on. I hung reflective tape in surrounding trees and some fancy reflective spinners.
I’ll check out how the tape works today.
Has anybody tried the ultrasonic noise makers? I would suspect if you could do it randomly or motion activated it would help. I was at a hospital yesterday and they had them on their terraced dinner area and they seemed to help.
We use to use propane cannons and a distress call to scare off crows that were pecking irrigation tubing. It wasn’t that effective but did help.

No squirrels. Have everything else.
Maybe ill stick to the squirrels.
