Blackening Leaves on Oregano

My oregano has wound up with some type of fungus or something turning the leaves black. What causes this and can it still be used? Advice needed?

I would suspect the four line plant bug.

Recognize it?

I agree with the 4 line bug answer from @Hillbillyhort . I have them here and oregano seems to one of their favorites. Damage looks like your photos.

They are around until late spring / early summer if I remember correctly. After that you can cut back oregano to get some fresh clean growth for drying.

Is that an every year thing for you? A lot of wasted crop.

Several years ago, you posted about long neck butternut squash which you developed over a period of time. Though the post may have been on a different website, and though this reply is unrelated to the present topic, I’m unable (to the best of my knowledge) to contact you in other ways. It appears that the other website is no longer online ? In any event, I’m contacting you to see if any viable seed (from those squash) are available from you.
