Blacklace elderberries taste?

I bought Bob Gordon and Wyldewood elderberries for their fruits. Didn’t get to taste them yet. I don’t have a much space to grow fruits, but I would like to buy another elderberry shrub. I was thinking of Blacklace, for my shady flowerbeds, since it’s so beautiful (as far as I can tell from the pictures I’ve seen). I can’t find any information about the Blacklace berries, other than “edible”. Anyone tried them?

I have heard that one must cook them in order to eat them. I planted one, but haven’t gotten any berries yet. I figure if they don’t taste good I will let the birds enjoy them, as it is a very attractive bush.
