Can you please explain how I can block someone? It seems like there is some kind of timer code. But no explanation as to what value to put in. What is the code for enternity or until I unblock?

Think you just click their name and go down to the normal button it should show you 3 options. Under message and then chat the is mute.

The Select a timeframe pull down doesn’t open for me and when I click the Ignore button it brings up a new screen that populates the duration with 3 hours (which I can not change). It also brings up a magnifying glass to search for something.
Hopefully these screen shots will help.
Sorry to bother but it’s not working as I would expect. This could also be a PEBCAK error (Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard).

No even when you block someone, you can still see them unfortunately. Wish it was like facebook blocking because i have a hard time physically ignoring people 
i need the system to do it for me entirely as well but it doesn’t here

I personally don’t believe in blocking anyone. I just challenge my willpower to not engage with people who don’t act in good faith and/or attack until they receive retaliation (in form of discourse) and then demand threads to be closed. Better to learn who is ok to engage with and who isnt. The amount of people which fall into this category is tiny to me, 3-4 people but I understand the desire to avoid them.

I must not have been on here long enough. So far most everyone I’ve encountered have been good folk. I’ve had a lot of fruitful dialogue. I’d think the number of bad apples is probably small enough to keep mental note on who needs to be weeded out of your contacts as Gknight says. It would probably be much more effort to change blocking features than would be worth for a few nuts.

When I scroll down on Select a Timeframe there a various times but the last one in the list is “Forever”

On this forum, if you “block” someone, it will just hide anything they post so you can’t read it. However, THEY will still be able to view and respond to anything you post. The annoying part is you will still see that they have posted, but just won’t be able to view the actual text. Effectively, blocking isn’t a useful tool on this forum.

So if I understand correctly, ignoring is really not ignoring.
Understand and that’s basicly what I have been doing with the exception of reporting. I haven’t reported anything yet, does a badge come with that?
